Michaela du Toit and Ivan Jesensky join The Texel Group

The Texel Group (“Texel”), the leading specialist credit and political risk insurance broker, today announces two brokers have joined its London office. Ivan will be working with clients and insurers to continue to build out Texel’s use of technology, innovation and software. He will ensure Texel remains at the forefront of the digital transformation process, crucially, understanding how the digital landscape affects and impacts clients.

Michaela will be working specifically within Texel’s SBS team, which focuses on developing new and bespoke applications of credit insurance for existing and new clients.

Ivan joins from LiquidX where he was a Director of Client Solutions for EMEA. He focused on the rollout of the digital RFQ platform utilised by a CPRI broker along with trade finance transactions deal marketing and execution. Prior to that he was Head of Portfolio Management at Greensill and held project management roles at Restore and Cintas.

Michaela joins from A&O Shearman where she was an Associate in the Derivatives and Structured Finance Practice, focused on public CLO transactions, warehouse financings, fund financing and originator financings. Prior to this she was an Associate at Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr Inc in Johannesburg.

Simon Bessant, Head of Insurance and a Director at Texel, said: “We are delighted to welcome Michaela and Ivan to the growing Texel team. We see an opportunity to focus on efficiencies in structured credit transactions and Michaela’s experience is ideally suited for helping us support clients in novel and innovative applications of credit insurance.

We are also seeing opportunities to develop a greater understanding of our clients’ digital journeys. Further to our recent deal with Bondaval, we see a significant value in digital solutions for our clients. We want to facilitate digital collaboration and connections between our clients and insurers so it’s brilliant to welcome Ivan as our dedicated broker for this.

These two new hires evidence Texel’s commitment to supporting our clients’ requirements from both a specialist credit and digitisation perspective; it’s great to welcome them on board.”
